Those of you who are already or planning to become entrepreneurs and start your own business, or those of you who are venture capitalists and looking to invest funds, here is a good forum for finding similar entrepreneurs, VCs and industry experts - advisorgarage.com . The forum contains very interesting articles about entrepreneurship - right from finding the investor to exiting the business. You might ask me, there are several forums and why this one? The reason is this - the members of this forum are very accomplished in their own fields - serial entrepreneurs ( in fact the founder himself is a serial entrepreneur), many investors and venture capitalists as well as various top executives from different industries and functionalities are present.
The idea is a good one, - there is definitely a great need for this kind of a forum. Especially, in top schools and in senior positions, you want to network with people who are connected/related to an idea that you are toying with and such forum is a great place to see who is interested and who is not. The primary thing to be taken care of (in B school lingo "differentiation") is that the quality of the members should be high. Otherwise, it would become like one of the "been there and seen" ones. I am sure the founder of advisorgarage is well-suited - Andrew did his MBA from Harvard and has been a serial entrepreneur. He is well-connected with VCs,other entrepreneurs and industry experts.
Are you wondering how do I Know? I did not guess it was the founder of advisor garage sitting in the next seat when I was flying to California :) I knew only that he was a Harry Potter reader and we started talking as I am a good Potter fan too and got to know a lot of things..
